The month of June has brought summer at the lakes into full swing. The warm weather and sunshine has increased the water temp and the fishing action. Now if it would just let up on the rain so the lakes would go down. For those of us that are here on a regular basis please keep an eye on your absentee neighbors’ docks and lifts and keep them informed on any issues due to high water. A dry week and some sunshine will help a lot.
The annual Little Bemidji and Big Elbow Lakes 4th of July boat parade will start at 10:30am in front of Rainbow Resort. All boats welcome. The Juggler Lake 4th of July boat parade starts at 2:00pm at the island.
The next Lake Association meeting will be Saturday July 12th at the Elbow – Tulaby Lakes Fire Hall. The potluck meal will start at 5:00pm with the main meat item provided. Please bring a side dish to share and your own dinner ware. The business meeting will start about 5:45pm.
The position of board member for Big Elbow Lake is currently up for election. This position is a three year term with no term limits. We also need a volunteer from Juggler Lake to collect water samples for the coming year.
I am trying to get a guest speaker from the Becker County Sheriff’s department to speak to us about how to better secure our properties and belongings when our members are away.
I would also like to remind our members to be mindful of invasive species when we entertain guests at the lake that bring in watercraft from outside the area or are transporting docks and lifts from another lake. It will only take one source to contaminate our lakes. Be sure to dry out the hulls, livewells and bait buckets and remove all weeds before they enter our waters.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July,
